今回は、日本の電車について説明する例文を紹介します。

In Japan, when we get on the train, we line up and get on in order so that we can get on smoothly. Cutting in is regarded as a rude behavior.
日本では、電車に乗るときは、スムーズに乗れるように列になって順番に乗り込むんです。列に割り込むことは失礼な振る舞いとみなされます。

There are some seats called “priority seat”. Those are the seats for the people who are elder, challenged, or pregnant.
優先席と呼ばれる座席があります。それらは、年配の方、障害のある方、妊娠した方のための座席です。

If you get on the train, you may know how Japan is safe. Many people are sleeping with their bag on their knees—they have never worried about pickers or thieves.
電車に乗ると、日本がいかに安全かが分かると思います。たくさんの人々が膝に鞄を乗せて寝ているんです―彼らはスリや泥棒について心配したことは一度もありません。

Japanese trains are really punctual. They are punctual to a minute, and especially in Tokyo, they come every three minutes. Therefore, people get angry when they are late, just about five minutes or so. They run that much punctually.
日本の電車は本当に時間に正確です。１分と違わず時間に正確ですし、特に東京では、３分おきに来ます。ですから、人々は電車がたった５分かそこら遅れただけで怒ります。それほど時間に正確なのです。 

What is more, there is even a system called “Furikae-yusou”. When the train gets stopped by some kind of accident, we can take the other train for the other route for free as a substitute. We need to get a ticket for it from the station attendant.
さらに、振替輸送と呼ばれるシステムもあります。電車が何らかの事故で止まってしまった時、私たちは代わりに、他のルートの他の電車に無料で乗ることができます。私たちはそのための券を駅員からもらう必要があります。

今回は、外国人が「クール」だと感じる日本の街、秋葉原を説明する際の例文を紹介します。

Akihabara is a town known for electronics stores, anime (cartoon films), and “Otaku”. “Otaku” is a word which mainly means anime geek.
秋葉原は電器店とアニメと「オタク」で有名な街です。「オタク」は、主にアニメのマニアを意味する言葉です。

Do you know “Meido-kissa (maid café)”? It’s a special café that the girl waiters are wearing the costume of maid. Also, you can talk with those waiters, and take a picture together.
「メイド喫茶」を知っていますか？ウェイターがメイドさんの格好をしている、特別なカフェなんです。ウェイターと話したり、写真を撮ったりもできるんですよ。

I heard that there is a guidebook of Akihabara for foreigners. I’ll get you one by Amazon.
外国人のための秋葉原のガイドブックがあると聞きました。アマゾンで一冊買ってあげますよ。

There is an event called “Hokousha-tengoku (pedestrian’s heaven)” in Akihabara. During that event, the town　partly get vehicle free, and we can walk freely on the road. We have the event on every Sundays.

秋葉原には歩行者天国というイベントがあります。そのイベント中、街の一部は車両通行禁止になり、私たちは道路を自由に歩くことができます。そのイベントは毎週日曜日に開催されています。

In 2008, there was a murder in Akihabara. The criminal was arrested, but people had broken up Hokousha-tengoku. However, from this year, they restarted it with utmost care.
2008年に秋葉原で殺人事件が起きました。犯人は逮捕されましたが、人々は歩行者天国を中止にしました。しかし、今年から、彼らは細心の注意を払って歩行者天国を再開しました。
