「伝えたい、分かりたい」があればなんとかなる！？～第二回　英語でお詫びとクレームへのお返事をする

英語でメールを書くこと自体初めてだった私にこんなツッコミメールが英文で届いてしまいました。
＜実際にいただいたメールの訳文＞
メール本文は前回の記事をご参照ください。

（訳　1．多くの中国の星占いに誤りがあります。なぜなら中国の暦は「1999年、2005年、2007年」（つまり西暦）とは異なって始まり終わります。私は、これを変えるときっと多くの方のためになると思います。２．また、使用されている英語がしばしば理解に難ありです。文法が雑で、まるでコンピューター翻訳機で別の言語から翻訳されただけのようです。もしその内容が分かりやすくなれば、あなたの「Synastry」は印象深いものになるでしょう。）

私が翻訳した小社の相性占いサイトへのありがたいコメントです。 確かに後半の部分は的を得ていますので、精進しますというむねを伝えたいのですが、前半の中国の暦に関しては誤解が生じているようです。まずはそこをなんとかほぐす必要があります。

そこで次のようなメールを返信しました。

Dear Sir or Madam:

Thank you for your mailing which includes valuable advice. I am writing to you in response to your mail.
At first, I apologize for the inconvenience.
If you please, could you read some of our explanations?
(訳：お客様へ　貴重なご助言を含んだメールを下さりありがとうございます。まずはじめに、ご不便をおかけしたことを謝罪いたします。よろしければ、われわれの言い分をお読みください。）

1) a lot of the chinese horoscopes are wrong, because Chinese years end and start differently from our "1999, 2005, 2007" years, so I am sure many people would appreciate this being changed.
-- Surely, the Chinese ancient years are different from western calender as you suggest. So we have programmed like following;
ex) If an user inputs the year 2000, this figure is exchanged to the year of "Dragon" in Zodiac of Japan (follows as Chinese Zodiac).
Japanese Zodiac of Japan years start and end at same time as western calender. Therefore we seem it may not be wrong.
Do you think you can ever forgive me?
（訳：確かにあなたが指摘されるように、、中国の古い暦は西暦とは異なります。ですからわれわれは以下のようにプログラムを組みました。
例；もしあるユーザーが2000と年号を入力するとこの数字は日本の干支（中国の干支にならった）の「辰年」に変換されます。
日本の干支の年は西暦と同じ日に始まり同じ日に終わります。それゆえわれわれはそれは誤りとは思っていません。
ご了解いただけるでしょうか？）

2) Also the english used is often hard to interpret. It seems like another language was just translated through a computer translator so the grammar is very rough. People would probably be impressed with your "synastry" if they understood what it was saying.

--This suggest is true at all. I accept it sincerely, and I try to study english more hardly. We modify this contents as soon as possible.
We are making this site only by members of Japanese stuff. I'm sorry to trouble you, but if you please, send more concretly suggestion?
I hope to you can be more enjoyable on using this site.
Please contact me if there can be the thing that I do not understand a unidentified thing.

さあ、送信した当人の思惑通りにお客様に意思が伝わったでしょうか？
周りに英語に堪能な日本人スタッフなどがいないとすごく不安になりますよね。
本当は誰かに「これなら大丈夫」と言ってもらって送ることができたら一番なんですけれど、
そんな手段がない私は勇気を振り絞って送信しました。
